7th & 8th Grade Chorus

I am so happy to have you in my choir class as 7th and 8th graders! Your voice develops the most in these grade levels, your music proficiency will be at it's best, and you have the best and most fun performing

opportunities! Stick with it and your hard work will pay off! :)

7th Grade Chorus

Students entering seventh grade will continue adding to their knowledge of vocal music techniques. Students will refine tone awareness, inotonation, and blending skills. Emphasis will be placed on the utilization of each singer's full range and each singer's ability to control the voice quality, pitch accuracy, and harmonic blending. The difficulty of music literature will be chosen to challenge the chorus to its limit. The vocal students will continue adding to their vocal repertoire the study of specific choral literature appropriate to the level in unison, two-part, and simple three-part singing.

8th Grade Chorus

Students entering the eighth grade will further refine all skills covered in all previous levels. Further challenges will include more advanced choral arrangements appropriate to the level in unison, complex two and three part singing (according to the group's ability). Special ensemble work with small groups will also be incorporated. Students will receive hoogeneously grouped lessons. Less time will be spent on solo and ensemble performance, in order to bring each vocal student to his/her maximum individual performance level.
